Before proceeding with creating a Direct Debit payment, confirm the following configuration prerequisites for the Company and associated Bank Account(s):
Direct Debit (Bank Connect) is configured as an Allowed Payment Type for the bank account.
Direct Debit (Bank Connect) is configured under Settlement Setup for the bank account and mapped to the appropriate Workday-delivered electronic payment methods.
Customer Payment is configured as a Payment Category under Settlement Setup for the bank account.
Additionally, ensure that the applicable Ledger Year and Ledger Periods are open for the company.
Confirm Direct Debit is enabled for the bank account
Search for Find Bank Accounts.
Filter the bank accounts search by the company.
Click on Related Search (three dots) next to the bank account name and navigate to Bank Account → Edit.
Locate the Allowed Payment Types field.
Confirm that Direct Debit is listed as an allowed Bank Connect payment type for the account.
If Direct Debit is not available as an allowed payment type, the account must be configured before proceeding with the payment workflow.
Additionally, under the Settlement Setup tab, confirm Direct Debit (Bank Connect) is available as a Payment Type, and Customer Payment is added as a Payment Category.
After completing or confirming the Direct Debit configuration prerequisites, continue with your standard accounting workflow to create and process the customer payment through the settlement run.
